The parents of the bride are paying for the reception and the parents of the groom are paying for the band, flowers and photographer. Is it appropriate for the invitation to state first the names of the brides parents along with (not and) the names of the grooms parents request the honor of your presence -----------------. Does that sound too much like the grooms parents are sharing in the cost of the reception? Not to sound greedy but want to do what is proper. Answers needed asap. Deadline immed.

well technically they are sharing the cost... the band, flowers and photog are all part of the reception...

Re: Invitations
what about doing:
Mr. and Mrs. Smith request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their daugther
____ to ____
son of Mr. and Mrs. Thompson etc etc etc?
OR you can do...
Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Mr. and Mrs Thompson request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their children
There really is no right and wrong........I am personally using the first option I listed but have seen both

Re: Invitations
My FIL's didn't contribute to our wedding (my parents paid for like 95% of it) and my mom still had us put:
Mr. & Mrs. Charles ______ Together with Mr. & Mrs. John _________ request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their children
I think b/c the groom's parents are contributing a lot towards the wedding (band, flowers, photog) that they should be included. Those things are not cheap

This is what we did. My parents paid for all of our vendors, and my IL's paid for the RD and our HM.

yes, but the cost of the reception is far more costly. I just want to do what is right. Appreciate your input

They are still contributing. FILs aren't paying for ANYTHING and my parents are paying for my flowers and dress and I still put 'together with their parents' on the invitation. I think it is done more out of respect than to show who is paying more.

Re: Invitations
I think you need to include them both since they are both contributing in big ways.

what is right = including them all because they're all contributing.
i would do either:
Mr. and Mrs. Bride's Parents together with Mr. and Mrs. Groom's Parents
or
Mr. and Mrs. Bride's Parents request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter
You to FH
son of Mr. and Mrs. Groom's Parents
it doesn't matter who is contributing to what. the point is that they're all contributing so they should all be included. that's what's right! what's not right is trying to include fh's parents because they're not contributing as much, when what they're paying for can cost clost to $2-15,000 anyway...

Re: Invitations
maybe your IL's dont have the financial means to contribute as much as your parents? Maybe they will help you with a home or other things down the road (furniture, $ towards a home, etc).
I think since they ARE contributing to the wedding (regardless of the $$$ amount) they should be mentioned in some way. If you want your parents to show that they are hosting, leave it as Mr. and Mrs. request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daugther........son of _______.
My IL's aren't really contributing to the wedding (they said they will pay for florist and photog, but its not definite) but we still listed them on the invitation since they are helping us down the road with a downpayment on a home.......even if they didn't help with that, I would still list them out of respect....JMO.

Re: Invitations
include both. Regardless of who is paying what, they are still the parents of the bride and groom
