Re: Invitations
I was super surprised at the cost of invites also. We were quoted everything from 1500 to 615 for the most basic pocketfolds. I finally found some nice and reasonable pockets on ETSY. FH says he doesn't feel comfortable ordering invites online, I think it's fine. What do you girls think about ordering online w/o feeling the paper quality.

A lot of people feel that way and go the DIY route with invitations. I've heard good things about the ones from Michaels. To be fair, you'll also spend money on flowers which will die shortly after the wedding, food which will only be consumed at the wedding, music which will only be heard at the wedding, a dress which you'll only wear once, favors...
Personally, I like invitations. They can set the mood for the party, give a glimpse of your theme, and tell people what to expect.
BUT.....the flowers make the wedding look beautiful, food people talk about after and fill your empty stomach the day of, the music makes the party fun, and you are the shining star of the day so even though you wear the dress once, eyes are on you that day. Invitations go in the garbage & i bet people never remember them. My opinion on that !

(Playing devil's advocate... ) Yes, but you're not talking about doing away with invitations all together. You're just talking about spending less on them. You could also spend less on (or even DIY) the flowers and the music and the food. Heck, even the dress. Everyone would still eat and dance and have fun and think you look beautiful.
One of my cousins had really cheap looking invitations. We definitely still talk about those (though not to her). Another cousin's wedding was DJ'd from an ipod but everyone had a fantastic time dancing.
Right I agree....we got invited to a wedding recently and I saw the invites and the paper felt like it was something from a dollar store!! I'm just saying, in my opinion, I wouldn't want to spend that much on invites. Everyone has their own preference as where to spend most of their money. I chose to spend most on the photographer, beside the Rh of course.

Will they send you a sample? I wouldn't order without seeing one in person. Many places either send free samples or will charge you for the sample and then give you credit for it if you order.
Oooh yes I just ordered two samples from Etsy!

I spent $5.66 per invite for 50 invites from T.e.s.s.a ( not including shipping and handling)
