Ok, so me and FH are having a little bit of a disagreement over the invites.
I am a 2011 bride... oct 2nd. We found the invites that we LOVE and we are getting a great price on them. As of now, we need 75 invitations the way our guest list stands right now. I think we should order the 150 just in case... I will be starting a new job soon, we didnt invite his coworkers yet. Then with our minimum if invites come back as no...then we will send others out.
Does this sound ABSOLUTELY ridiculous? It is a year away and I do not want to be ordering new invites for a few if we run out.

Re: Invitations
I was wondering the same thing. If I order invites now, or within a year of the big day, do you buy more invites just incase your list gets longer.
I've heard the people you want to invite now will not be the same when it comes closer to the wedding....
SOooooooo how many extra do you order?

Re: Invitations
i would wait until closer to your wedding to order them... a lot can change between now and then! esp if you're thinking you're going to need more than double the amount you have now

Re: Invitations
I would wait until you have a finalized guest list and then order your invites. When you do have a finalized list, you'll want to order 15-20 extra just in case, but you certainly don't want to order double.

Re: Invitations
I would wait, invitations can get very expensive and ordering twice more than you really need seems like a lot.

Re: Invitations
I think you will be fine with 100 max 125, i definitely don't think you need 150 invites. y waste money.

Re: Invitations
i WOULD NOT order my invites so early on in the game. wait until next year to order. you'll be at your job and you'll know more about who you will want to invite and so will he. plus your guest list may totally change between now and then, you never know.

Re: Invitations
wait this one out. my original list ballooned up to 275. we ended up inviting 140.

Re: Invitations
I would wait as well - it is one thing to order an addition couple dozen but DOUBLE - thats expensive AND may be totally unnec depending on how many you actually end up inviting!

Re: Invitations
Definitely wait. 100 will probably be okay. Remember you'll want extra for yourself.

Re: Invitations
I agree double is a bit too much! I would just wait until you have an idea of how many people you have on the A list and the B list if you have that.

Re: Invitations
Honestly you can so wait to get your invites until about 6 months before. they do not take long at all to get & then have the calligrapher do what they do (if you so choose). I alway ssay to order an extra 25 invites just in case. I did. I had about ten left over. Good luck

Re: Invitations
chiming in to say it's probably best to wait. double the invitations is nearly double the price. that's a big difference.

Re: Invitations
i definitely would order extra we started off with such a small list needing only 100 invites we actually needed like 175 because kept adding on but if you love them order more making sure you can still get them later on if you need more

Re: Invitations
I would wait until closer to the wedding. I went to look at invitations and they told me 6 months before is plenty of time to order them.... Maybe then you will have a better idea.
