Invitations?

Invitations?

I feel like I'm rarely ever on here anymore!
I was just flipping through The Knot magazine and decided to take up the 8 free samples offer on invites on weddingpaperdivas.

Does anyone else feel like some of the invitations on websites seem so informal? I honestly haven't been to a wedding in a while, so I don't really know if things are changing.

What is everyone else doing as far as invitations? I definitely saw a few that I liked, but didn't LOVE.

you know my mom is all about a FORMAL invitation, she says it 'sets the tone' but I'm the first of my age group to have a wedding in the family and I really think times are changing! cute and quirky is in and my mom is insisting I have ribbon or lace on my invite.. I also got the free samples from weddingpaperdivas and it really helped FH and I decide on the paper style and size. now just a design and colors.. I've been browsing pinterest like a nut job trying to find the perfect design but can't come across anything I LOVE either.. have you ever been to cedahurst paper in Patchogue on route 112? I went with my MOH as she suggested and they had a ton of designs for a really reasonable price. I know it's not the fanciest place but I'm searching high and low for what I really want.. HTH

I went for a very informal invitation. But my wedding is not very formal either. Many of the 'newer' style invites are less formal because the style is moving away from the embossed ink look. I think, just like anything else, you should go with what fits you, your budget, and your wedding style. But yeah I couldn't imagine a stuffy old fashioned invite for me and my FH and our budget wouldn't really allow for anything fancy anyway lol.

Haha, I really love a lot of these designs, just didn't want it to look silly. I remember stuffing envelopes for my dads second wedding and there were so many 'things' hanging from the invites! I actually like the more simple approach with the not so formal fonts and colors.

I ordered some samples from Ann's Bridal Bargins thinking I wanted a simpler invite but they are almost too simple. I want a nice invite but they are so overpriced, my real problem is that I found invitations on Minted that I love but they are too expensive. I will have to order some samples from wedding paper divas.

I thought about DIY invites also but I don't know if I could handle it! I kind of think it's worth it to pay and not have the added stress of smudged ink or things that aren't perfectly aligned..

We used Ellen from addressed2impress an chose a gorgeous custom trifold invite. She is amazing. I would definitely check her out.

I have ordered several invitation samples and I honestly haven't like any of them. I find them to be way to informal for a wedding. I want a pocket fold. I have an appointment with Jessica Leigh Paperie in July and there are a few other places I plan to make appointments with. My wedding isn't 'black tie' BUT it still is OUR WEDDING and I would not send the same type of invite I would to a 50th birthday or an anniversary party. I agree it sets a tone for your wedding. I also plan to have my menus, favor tags, place cards, and table numbers coordinate with my invites.

I am very particular about my invites. While i am planning to do the menus, place cards, thank you cards, etc. myself, I might go to a stationary store for my invites.

I'm diying my invites. I'm dong pocketfolds. I love them but didn't wanna spend triple just for the convenience of someone doing it for me.

I think this is my issue! Some of these things are way too simple. I feel like the samples I ordered are not going to satisfy me. I ordered our e-party invites from weddingpaperdivas and loved them...but like someone said above, this is setting the tone for our wedding. I want them to be a bit more elaborate than a piece of thick card stock with some nice print on it.
I guess we'll see when we get the samples!

If you can DIY your invites you're a WAYYY better person than me. I'm going to attempt some DIY but if I can't get the hang of it, I'm going to put it into the hands of a pro!

We totally found our invitation off of WeddingPaperDivas. Honestly I found ones that we both LOVED and they're kinda fun whcih is what I was looking for. I couldn't even describe any wedding invitations we've gotten, I don't pay attention to them so I figure most people wont.

We found our engagement party invites from Vistaprint and our STDs from WeddingPaperDivas. I actually chose the design of our wedding website based on the invitations I liked. I have gotten the fancier, more traditional invitations for a few weddings we've been invited to, but to be perfectly honest, I think this should be the least expensive thing that you budget for.

I don't see the point in spending more than a few hundred dollars, bc they go in the trash anyway. And I don't know anyone who's ever said 'eww, that invitation was so ugly, she's probably going to have an ugly wedding too'. Most people see it, write down the date and time, and throw it away.

I'm doing formal pocketfold invitations because I wanted something elegant to kinda set the tone for my wedding
