Invitations - Color Question

Invitations - Color Question

Should the colors of your invites match the colors of your wedding?
My wedding colors are bright pink and orange. My mom thinks the invitations should match, but to me, those colors on a invite make it look a bit too much like a sweet 16 invite.
Would it be weird or wrong to use a light pink (with silver/gray), or a completely different color combo?
I'm totally indecisive...

Maybe you could have a white invitation with hints of pink and orange. That would look sooo pretty!

You dont have to match your invitations..and to be totally honest, I dont think anyone will notice that either. But if you did want to there are alot of sites out there with pretty colors on them..

My colors are similar to yours, but we want a classic and elegant look for the invitation. We are going with black and white.

there is no rule that says you have to match. most of the invites that I've gotten didn't even have anything to do with the wedding colors.

pink/light pink - same difference!

believe it or not - when I sent my STDs - they were pink and green - a lot of people, and I mean a lot, asked if they were my wedding colors. I was like, what?? So some people DO notice weird shitt like that.

I don't think you have to match if you don't want to. But maybe try to find something with your colors in it as an accent, not necessarily the whole color scheme. Like, my colors are brown, orange and greens. But my invites are brown with hot pink just bc I thought it looked nice.

i DEF. dont think it has to match! Originally i really wanted invites with Purple in them....but all the ones i really liked were way out of my price range, and all the ones IN my price range were really cheezy looking! SO, FH and I decided just to go with a simple classy white/ivory and pearl invitation. Everyone LOVED it, and i am so happy we made that choice!

I dont think you HAVE to match but you could find something maybe with one of your colors as an accent or something.

Mine are green and the girls are wearing green. I feel for the ones that dont know they might realize and try to stay away from wearing green them selves.

You could get the ink in one of your wedding colors. A burnt orange ink may look nice on the invite.

Same here! My STD's were purple and they were like 'oh your theme is purple?' I was like 'no, it's a grape/vineyard theme STD that happens to be purple.'

With that said, your wedding invite does not have to match your colors!! Whatever makes you happy you should go with!

our invitations are not going to match our color scheme, I don't think it really matters.

Personally, I like when everything coincides; std's, invites, favors, etc... but that is just my opinion.

i dont think they have to match exactly....i dont really have any wedding color themes - but i think my invitations will be close to the style and color of my bridesmaids dresses - simple, elegant and kind of christmas but more in a victorian christmas way - no reds - more taupe/gold

I think the pink and silver sounds pretty and while its not exactly your colors- it is a shade of it- besides most people wont remember that your actual wedding day colors were different than the invite- i say go for it

That is how I am also, I like matchy-matchy. My std's were pink and orange. I'm thinking I may include pink in my invites, but leave out the orange. It is just going to be an accent color at the wedding anyways.
I think my problem is that I have about 100 paper color choices. It's too many and I am a very indecisive person. I need someone to narrow it all down for me!

i dont think anything has to MATCH exactly, we did fall STD magnet, cuz getting married in sept, but otherwise, my girls are in midnight blue and our invites are probably going to be midnight n light blue or midnight and bright pink
as for everything else who knows what we will do!!!

I whole heartedly agree! i think this would be very elegant and stunning. Perhaps hot pink letter press with some pink and or orange flourishes?

I think this is a great idea!

Re: Invitations - Color Question

I drove myself crazy with this ! I wanted my invites to match my bridesmaid dresses, and I couldn't for the life of me find invites I liked that also had my ' colors' - plum and cream.

I ended up ditching this idea , because like others mentioned, MOST people won't know ( or care ) as much as we do.

My Invitations are now champane and burgandy , not plum and cream ( when I get the mock up I will post)
