Invitations going out - What is that trick?
Where you write a number in the bottom corner so you know who you sent it too? Is it with invisable ink?

I think people do it it in pencil lightly. No one will notice. Invisible ink would drive me nuts! lol.

I just wrote it in pen on the back corner, I don't think anyone noticed and it helped a lot when I had two idiots, I mean people, send there's back blank.

I've gotten ones with pencil on them. I wouldn't bother with invisible ink because most people won't notice the pencil on the back anyways and trying to keep track of something you can't see at a glance seems like a lot of extra work lol

Wow I didn't even notice this trick. Definitely will come in handy. I can't believe people actually send it back with no names!

Are you hand cancelling them? Does anyone know what the story is with that? I saw 2013 brides talking about that

Basically, you assign each invite a # that corresponds to that person you are sending it to. That way, if you get an RSVP and you're like 'who the heck is this?' because their handwriting is illegible, you can flip it over and look up the person by their # that you put on the back of the card :)

Hand Cancel is where they just stamp the 'paid postage' signage on the invite instead of running it through the machine which creates barcodes on the invite and can damage anything delicate on the invite in the enevelope

They still go through a machine, even with hand canceling! They can cancel out the postage by hand, but the barcode on the bottom goes on after it leaves the local PO and it's done with a machine. My invitation place INSISTED that hand canceling avoided machines completely but it's not true....I checked with multiple POs. I had crystals on my invites and a bunch came off (I question whether it was the PO's fault or the invitation people did a shoddy job, leaning towards the latter). If I could go back in time I would have nixed the crystals....they ended up being a waste of money.
Sorry for the rant, but revisiting this got me annoyed again!
Also, I did my numbers in invisible ink....the pen was like $2 at barnes and noble.

This! When I asked for hand cancel the lady at the post office said that it will still end up with the bar codes at the bottom. I'm so glad I kept my invites simple and didn't add crystals or anything delicate because I would've been annoyed also. I wish I would've numbered my RSVP's though because I already received one where I couldn't read the handwriting. If it wasn't for the fact that he told me his guests's name I wouldn't have known who it was from!
