Hello Ladies, How far in advance do you have to go order your invites? and how far in advance should you send them out? I need to do a 'B' list so I want to send out the first invites pretty early but not too early. Help!

There is a great invitation store in Islip on main st. The owners name is Melinda she is soo nice!

Our big days are about a month apart (and about 2 miles ) apart. I ordered my invitations REALLY early (last august).
They are handmade letterpress, so it took about 6 weeks between placing the order, and delivery.
After delivery, you likely will be sending it to a calligrapher, which will take another 3 weeks, once shipping time is added in.... (Order your stamps online at this point!)
Traditionally invitations are sent out 2 months prior to the wedding, and the RSVP date is one month prior.... but make sure that isn't too close to the 'final head count' deadline at your hall. You need time to track down the unresponsive people...
So, all in all, 6+3+8=17 weeks or a little over 4 months prior to the wedding you REALLY need to get the order in.... (unless your invitation vendor has faster turnover than mine, which is very likely...)
