Invitations - Make your own or buy?

Invitations - Make your own or buy?

I'm torn between the idea of making my own invitations and just ordering them from a professional. I'm good with details and crafts, so that's not a problem....but if I make them, they won't have the raised print, and those little details that give a little something extra to the invitations.

Any opinions?

How about suggestions on where to go for either - supplies to make my own, or places to have them printed?

We made our own, with supplies from Staples and tons of DH's patience on the computer! It saved a lot of $$$$, but it was definatly hard...

sorry, that's just one thing I didn't want to tackle on my own...would rather pay the $$$ to have someone else do it!

I'm DIY w/the invites and I couldn't be happier - saving me AT LEAST $350...

Here's a sample of what I started on - not complete just yet!

I would love to do it and know I can but at the end of the day I am going nuts... and really feeling it in the last few days...I can not take that project on...

Re: Invitations - Make your own or buy?

i'm actually considering making my own pocketfold invites. it will save me about 1200 dollars since we will be needing alot of invites.

i will probably make the pocketfolds myself by ordering long strips (5'X20') of curious metallic or stardream cover stock from a paper company. i'll then score it and cut/glue the pocket.

i plan to take my invite/inserts design to a printing company and have the invite printed on linen cover stock in thermographic printing. the inserts will be on linen cover stock as well, with flat printing. the invite envelope will be an A7 linen envelope, with a matching A1 linen RSVP envelope.

again, these are just my ideas. i really dont know if it will be feasible to make them myself since i will be needing a ton of them. we shall see!
