Invitations - question

Invitations - question

Hey ladies,

I am trying to order my invites, and I am confused.

Besides the invitation, envelope and response card, what are the following:

- Informal note card) (why would someone need this?

- Reception folder - what is this for?

which card is needed to invite people to the reception or to let them know where the reception will be held.

I know I sound rediculous, but I don't want to make any mistakes; so if you could give me the run down of the entire invitation package, and what they are used for, I would greatly appreciate it.

thanks

Well -- I hope someone else jumps in here because I need to know too. I'm pretty sure the reception folder is the folded card that says something like

'Please join us for a reception at ...'

If you don't include the reception info on the invite (don't think you're supposed to?)

I have no idea what the informal note card is for, sorry!

Reception card is a seperate card telling the guest where and when the reception is being held. Its very common to include that on the main invite now but strictly speaking...its supposed to be on a seperate card if its in a seperate location (although I dont see why).

The informal note card could be used for thank yous. Or it could be used instead of a RSVP b/c some people dont do the card where you fill in the blanks...some people just include a note and let the guest write a more formal response back. This is pretty rare now a days from what Ive seen but its gaining in popularity again.

Some people also use the informal note cards as 'At Home' cards. it's a practice rare around here, but it says

MR and Mrs So and so
Will be at home on jan 10, 2005 (the date u get bakc form the honeymoon)

and it gives the address.

I'm doing these because I want people to know that I am not going to be changing my name, so they'll write out the checks correctly and they'll address me properly in the future.

While we're on the subject...does anyone know of a good way that I cna indicate that it's an animal friendly wedding? Basically thre's going to be a lot of vegetarian food, and mostly the real point is that I don't want people coming to my wedding in fur coats. I will literally throw them out. hehe

We have informal notes - we use them to send thank yous for engagement and shower gifts, etc. It just has our first names on it.
We are having a formal response card (it doesnt say M___________ will attend __ # of people). Instead it is blank and people write a note telling you whether or not they can come (and you get to keep the notes cause most people right something really nice)
