You have to think about when you want to send them out. If I remember correctly probably about 4 months before you send them out. You need time for them to come in, be addressed, assembled, etc.
I sent mine out in Feb 2004, ordered them in Nov 2003

I ordered mine 1 year and 12 days before the wedding (confused the printers). I don't think it really matters as long as they don't get too damp. I ordered mine so early b/c I thought they were going to be disconinued.
