OK, so FH and I have been a little lax in the invitation department. We have them picked out and are buying them tomorrow morning. Our wedding is in 2.5 months, but the woman in the store said we'd be able to get them in two weeks, just in time to mail them out 8 weeks before the wedding. . .
here's the question... We obviously don't have time to send them all out to have the addresses done in calligraphy. They are really extravagent and nice invitations. A gift from my parents. Do you think we should send them a little late (maybe 6 weeks prior) and get the calligraphy done? Or send them out on time (8 weeks prior) just hand write them ourselves, or have them done with computerized caligraphy?
any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Invitations Question w/ poll
Why would it take 2 weeks to do the calligraphy? There are a lot of ladies that will turn around in a week or less, if needed. I have a calligraphy list if interested.

Re: Invitations Question w/ poll
Computerized calligraphy is fine. I would get the invitations out on time, because there are always some slackers you're going to have to hunt down and you don't want to be doing that the week of your wedding.

My first choice would be to have them hand done, but doing the calligraphy on the computer isn't that bad. I just wouldn't use labels.

Re: Invitations Question w/ poll
I would definitely do computer calligraphy - they have a font that looks like the stroke of a pen - I did this and I thought it looked great!! It also saves a lot of time and will look just as classy as your invitations! Definitely don't do labels...if you do opt for computer calligraphy you may want to buy extra inner envelopes - or any envelopes that have an inner lining as they get stuck in the printers and you lose a lot of them this way. I ran short :(

We used computer calligraphy and printed directly onto inner and outer envelopes. I think they came out great...
Computer! I used MS Word with the 'English111 Vivace BT' font and I got so many compliments on my 'professional' caligraphy job!!!!!

I love calligraphy and nothing makes an invitation look classier. IT's worth the wait.

It doesn't take that long try inkspun. Bill sent them to me two days later. What takes alot of time is typing the list out for him. While your invites are being done you should be finalizing your list and send him all the info. So when your envelops come all you have to do is send them to him and he has a 48 hr turn over. You should try. inkspun.com
I actually tried printing my envelops but my printer was tearing up my envelops or the address would come out crooked. That is why i left it to a professional.
