Invitations ?? Should state be written out??

I am finalizing my spreadsheet before I send it to the invitawtion lady and I just realized for the state field I have it fully written out.

Did you ladies write out ie:

Glen Cove, New York or did you put NY???

It depends on how formal your invitations are. If you are writing the time as 'three-thirty in the afternoon', then I would suggest that you write out 'new york'. If you are writing '3:30p.m.', NY is fine.

I think NY is fine for the envelopes.

If it's the actual location of the wedding i would write New York

I spelled it out only because sometimes calligraphy can be hard to read with abbreviations.

I spelled out Glen Cove, New York for the ceremony and Carle Place, New York for the reception

for addresses on envelopes, you can abbreviate, but usually you spell everything out on the actual invitation pieces

Both my printer and sales person at Papyrus spelled out the names of the states when I ordered my invitations and then got the envelops printed.
