Invitations - When to order

Hi Girls,

When should we usually start ordering the invitations? I hope I'm not behind!

Timing depends on how custom the invitations are.

Keeping in mind that you should mail them 2 months before the wedding, you should try to order at least 2 - 3 months before then ... so 4 - 5 months before the wedding.

You may want to start looking soon, so you don't feel rushed to make a decision.

Do when ever you are comfortable with what you picked. I would wait until Jan.

My wedding is in may and i am going to start looking at them soon. I would rather have them sitting around then not have the ones that i want in time.

they only take about 10 days so keep that in mind.

I didn't order mine until 3 months before. Wedding on 11/15, Ordered on 8/10...proof came back on 8/15, order came in on 9/1.

We had the envelopes printed, and I didn't even get her the addresses until 9/19...I mailed them out on 9/20. You have plenty of time...as long as you know what you want.

When I looked too far in advance, I had a completely different idea of what I wanted...keep that in mind. Good Luck to you!

this is only true for some manufacturers.

there are others that can take 6 weeks ... which usually have layers, ribbons or bows

Not at all! It depends on the kind of invitations you want, if you're having hand calligraphy, and stuff like that.

I would order at least by March 1. That gives you 2 months to get them in, addressed, and stuffed, and then they'd go out in May. If you want anything custom, bump it up to mid January, just to be safe.

I am an early bird...just want them done and out of the way...if you know what you both want..then just do it and be done too...one less thing to worry about...thats jmo...and mine came in 3 days! lol
