So I have begun to think about invitations for the wedding but I don't have a clue of where to go. So if you girls could recommend some places in queens or nassau that would be great! TIA!

Re: Invitations where did you go?
I went to Crystal International Gift on Hicksville Rd in Seaford. They were pretty good. The only problem I had was the amount of time it took to receive them. I ordered them really early b/c my FMIL was going to do the calligraphy on the envelopes but FSIL was getting married at the beginning of May and FMIL was having surgery beginning of April and I wanted to give her enough time to do them. They seem to order in bulk based on date of the wedding not when you order them so I received them 2 days before FMIL went into surgery. Needless to say she was unable to do the calligraphy. Other than that they did come in plenty of time to normally address them and they did come in correctly.

I second that place. I didn't do my invitations through them for the wedding but have used them for other occasions. They did my sister's baby shower invites in less then a week for me without an additional fee!

Re: Invitations where did you go?
I went to Lion in the Sun in Huntington Village, then went online and bought my invites for almost $100 less!! Follow Your Heart (West Islip) is also great...she gives you a discount too. If I hadn't fallen in love with the one I saw in Lion in the Sun, I definitely would have bought from her. Some (beautiful)invites were only about $100 for 120 invites and she carries almost all the major names in invitations. I have heard really nce things about Party City too! HTH!

We used Proper Paper in Plainview. I DON'T recommend them. They were very nice and sweet to order from - but the owner, Rhoda, is nasty and a shark. Don't trust her nor order from them.

I used Proper Papers and I actually had a very positive experience. I worked personally with Rhoda and she was very helpful and sweet. I got my invitations just one week after approving the proof and they were perfect!
I understand that people have different experiences, and even if I had a negative experience somewhere, I would never say 'Dont Use Them'. I don't think thats right...

You are right - that is not a nice thing to say.... BUT... I am very upset that because of their addition mistake of $200 (from the order when it was placed), I was made to feel that I was ripping them off and Rhoda was very nasty that I should pay that. She also threw in an extra $25 charge that she was originally not charging me for (again, from their error). Although I argued and argued that they were not right, I landed up paying it and am very angry about it. She is not a nice woman. Sorry for going off - just other brides be aware there.

Re: Invitations where did you go?
I went to a lady in Port Washington. She has her own company and is custom making my pocketfold invitatons. I needed to use someone with lots of flexibility because I'm not using a common color scheme and don't have time to do them myself.
She's absolutely wonderful and very on top of things. She's also extremely reasonable. I should be getting them in a week. I'll post pictures as soon as I do.
FM me if you want a referral.

Re: Invitations where did you go?
ETSY and ME!
I designed the invites, found someone on etsy who can letterpress my design.
I buying pocketfolds and printing my own RSVP cards and directions cards.
I bought tons of pretty cheep ribbon, done!
YAY! I'm so happy. I hated hated all the invitions I saw, excpet the ultra overpriced ones.
If you don't know about etsy yet, you should check it out, its amazing for unique handcrafted things.

i did the same thing. I found a place to look at invites but then order them online for cheaper. And Party city is also a great place. They have all the major invite brands.
