give the guests about 4 weeks to reply and yourself enough time to make all arrangements/phonecalls (so that date is about 1 month before the big day)

For your 3/5/04 wedding, I would order them by the middle of October. Mail them on or about 1/1/04 and have the RSVP date be 1/31/04 (when is your head count due? - you would want it a few days before that).

You want to have plenty of time for the order to come in, assemble, address, etc - in the middle of the holiday season.

I ordered mine six months before which ended up being SO early because they were ready about one week after I ordered them.

My Calligrapher had them for about a month but that's only because she is a friend and I told her to take her time.

I mailed them a few days before the two month mark.

My response date is exactly one month before the wedding.

Thanks everyone. I was double checking with my schedule I created. Looks like I am on target. I have to make the rsvp date a little bit more than a month. People will not send it on time.
