Ok - I have asked my FMIL for a list 4 times and she still has not given me one. I hate to be a pain and ask again but I need to know how many she is inviting so I know how much more money I have to come up with.
Any suggestions on how to go about doing this?

would it work to give her a deadline? just tell her that if she does not give you a list, then she can't add anyone at last minute, especially if she is not paying for them. Good luck!

Tell her you need her list by a certain date. About a week before the deadline, I would remind her and tell her if she doesn't give you the list, you are going to have to cap her number at X number of people. Have you explained to her that you need the number for financial reasons?

I know what your going through. It tooks months before I had a complete list from my FMIL. I was being such as nag, just keep nagging. There's nothing else you can do. Nag to your FH that his mom needs to give you her list. She'll finally get the hint!

how about you have to order invites...and you are going to order invites next week and will order XX for her (a lower number) ask her if that is enough...that should get her going

Ok - FH has nagged her and I lied and said the company that prints my invites is discontinuing a bunch of designs and mine is one of them. I told her that I didn't want to miss out b/c they were so ridiculously cheap and told her how much and she was like that is a great price.
That was last week and FH reminded her 2 days ago and still nothing.
She knows I am paying for the wedding myself and I need to know for budget reasons but like I said before still nothing.
I am at a loss of what to do! FH said he'll make the list himself and we'll leave room for an additional 10 people but I don't think he should have to = how hard is it to make a list = they have a really small family so it'll take all of 20 minutes. My in-laws are retired and its not like they do anything.
Any other suggestions??????????????

Go and seat down with her and get the list ready! If your FH has asked her, and nothing yet ... so the best is to go both and seat with her to force her to do the list.
