Invite Officiant to Reception??

Invite Officiant to Reception??

If you are hiring an officiant to perform your ceremony are you supposed to invite them to the reception?

FI doesn't want to pay for the officiant to eat if we are paying $500 for them to perform a 30 min ceremony.

Is it wrong not to invite the officiant since we don't really know them anyway?

Thanks

you are supposed to invite them as far as etiquette goes, but i also believe that they generally decline! that might be officiant etiquette, i guess!
we don't really know our officiant either - we've only met with him once....when we booked him!

$500 seems high for an officiant. I've been quoted almost half of that.
