Are you putting your in-laws name in the invitation? Or are you just having your parents name?

Re: Invite Q
Just my parents. They're hosting (read: paying for) everything. I didn't want to be impolite, so I asked FH if his parents would want to be included on the invitation anyway. (Honestly, I don't know his parents very well -- they're divorced and barely ever speak to one another.) He said they wouldn't care about being omitted because they 'don't stand on ceremony.'

Re: Invite Q
I included them aswell as my parents. I didnt feel comfortable not putting them on if that makes any sense.

Re: Invite Q
We are putting both sets of parents names because they are both giving us a lot of money towards the wedding.

Re: Invite Q
BOTH of our sets of parents are lucky if we decided to put 'together with their parents' ... neither set are contributing so we are debating whether to mention them at all....

Re: Invite Q
This is one area where I think the traditions make sense. If you and FH are paying for the wedding yourselves, then you can put whatever you want. If your parents are paying, and his are not, I think it's respectful to your parents to include their names (and only their names) as hosts. You could always include FH's parents names in a ('son of Mr. and Mrs. xxxx' line, but I have never liked how that reads). If both parents are paying, they should both be given equal billing as hosts.

Re: Invite Q
NO FREAKIN WAY! lol sorry to be so rude about it but just no way, my parents and thats all. we are paying for the whole thing ourselves but I like the idea of having my mom and dad on the invite b/c they support our decisions and have helped us along the way whenever they could, they let him stay over on his visits home from the Marines and even went to his graduation with me, but thats wehre it ends. If anything why not write so and so along with their parents wish to invite....

Re: Invite Q
My parents are paying for the majority of the wedding. And i wanted to put only their names since they are the ones contributing but i didn't want to be overtly rude. My Fh agrees with me but i wanted to make sure..
Thanks all

Re: Invite Q
We are paying for the wedding ourselves, but decided to put both sets of parents names on the invite out of respect. We felt it's the least we can do. Where would we be without them? Maybe they didn't pay for our wedding, but they supported us through the first 18 years of our lives. That's worth something to us.

If we were paying for the wedding i might consider this but since my parents are flippin the bill, i just think it is almost rude to put the in-laws on the invite

out of respect, we are putting both. our decision had nothing to do w/ money and who was contributing amd who wasn't.

I guess i feel it is also disrespectful to my parents to have the FIL's names there

Re: Invite Q
We had our names and then wrote along with our parents. For ex
Danielle XXXXXXX And Neil XXXXXXXXX along with their parents request the honour of your presence..........
We also paid for the entire thing so for us it was better this way

you are entitled to your opinion, so please don't think i am not disagreeing w/ your decision. just curious as to why you feel it is disrespectful to your parents to include his?

Re: Invite Q
I just had this disccusion with my FH & my mom this weekend.
We are leaning toward 'together with their parents', other wise it would be Mr & mrs my parents & Mr. s& Mrs. his parents, but I think that sounds weird because really we are the ones planning it & inviting msot of the quests, and all 3 groups are most likely paying for it. I don't want to exlude his parents entirely, even if they don't give us money (they said let us know if you need anything) b/c we are equal;y close to our parents & they are almsot as involved as mine.

Re: Invite Q
I have no idea what to put... my dad so far hasnt had any part of the wedding and I dont even know if he is coming. My mom paid for my dress and my fil's are paying for the favors. other then that we are paying for everything ourselves.... but 'with our parents' isnt fair to my mom and fils since my dad isnt doing crap... my mothers boyfriend is helping more then my own dad but im not putting his name on there......

Re: Invite Q
We had our invites custom designed and since we were paying for wedding ourselves we had just our names put on. Plus it would have been too complicated since there are his parents, my dad & stepmother and my mom & her partner of 17 years whom I consider my stepdad. IMO that is too many names to be listing..... Turned out that my in laws gave us 2 very large checks to help pay for the wedding with no strings attached which was wonderful and my mom & stepdad paid for our HM as a wedding gift! My dad didn't help at all. Still invites only had our names on them.

Re: Invite Q
Both sets of parents are contributing to our wedding, so they are both on the invitation.
