invite Q re: couple who might have broken up

i just peeked on facebook and my newsfeed said A and B have ended their relationship. A is a friend of FH's from college, and they dont really keep in touch that much but he decided to invite him anyway. We found out about his gf through facebook a while back, got her name from facebook, and had the invite addressed to him with her name on it (not 'and guest'). Don't think he's ever mentioned her to FH, and he definitely didn't mention the potential breakup to FH.

According to facebook it seems that they have broken up. I'm going to try to keep tabs on the situation (maybe they will get back together?) but I dont know what to do about his invitation.

should we just send it as is, handwrite him a new one, or do something else? we're sending out invites in a little over 2 weeks and its not really practical to try to get a new envelope made for him.

Thoughts?

would FH feel comfortable sending him a message to ask?

i guess it might be awkward if he isn't that close with him. maybe you should just send it as is. he doesn't need to know you were checking out his facebook page!

I'll have to ask FH and see what he wants to do. They were friends and teammates in college, but they were never super close. FH didn't even know he was dating this girl, I found out from facebook

I guess I could handwrite it

me too. I know you're supposed to find out the name, technically, but he's a guy and he won't know the difference anyway! Just do & guest and don't worry about it any more!

honestly then i would send it JUST to him regardless. You never met the GF, the friend didnt bring her up to your fh you have no association with this girl. So not like she would be insulted ya know even if they are together. He'll say oh its an old friend from back in the days so it will be fine

I would handwrite. You don't have to even include and guest, IMO, unless that is what you are doing with every guest. We are doing with guest only if we know they are with someone and serious. We need to keep the head count down.

we didnt do 'and guest' with anyone... if they had a significant other we listed them by name. Many of our friends are totally single and it could add 60-70 people to our guest list.... if someone wants to bring a guest, they can ask us and once we see how many OOTers are coming we'll decide.

We'd just do his name if we re-wrote it although this guy lives in Wisconsin now so I'd be shocked if he came. You never know though
