Invite Question

Invite Question

First and foremost...sorry so long. I need help. My invites will be going out in the next 2 weeks or so and I am having a problem with them. What is the correct protocol when addressing the invites. I am just afraid that certain people, like distant relatives, will assume the invite is for 5 people. I don't really associate with my parents distant cousins/family so I am not sure if they know that the invitations are in most cases for husband and wife or 2 people.

My sister said I should write the number in the response card before sending them out. This way the number will be in there and will discourage people from writing in more than 2. I've also heard that the invitation itself should be addressed to the people invited.

So what do you guys suggest and what are you doing with your invites???? I just don't want to have to start calling people and saying 'um excuse me tne invitation was for two but your rsvp'd for 5, sorry no can do.'

Re: Invite Question

Well in the case of my cousin and his wife, they have three kids. Instead of adressing it Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Family or the Smith Family, I just put Mr. & Mrs. Smith on the outside envelope and John and Jane on the inner envelope. I am not positively sure if this was the correct thing to do but thats what they did! Hopefully when they see just John and Jane on the envelope they understand!
