Invite question

Ok, so with my lazy day I am working on the addresses for my invites (which will hopefully be in any day now!!!:) Need advice on 2 things...

1- I have a recently married cousin who did not take her husband last name so do I put both full names on one line or what?

2- I am inviting family with children so do you do Mr. & Mrs. Smith Family
oooor
Mr. & Mrs. Jane Smith & on the next line name the children?
Mr. & Mrs. Smith & Family
or
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
James & Maggie
123 Whogivesa?
Here, NY

Thanks girls!

Re: Invite question

I would probably address the invites as:

1. Ms. Sherri Davis
and Mr. Steven Smith

2. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Smith (and address the inner envelopes more specifically)

or I usually go with:

The Smith Family

Here's a link to the formal procedure for address the various envelopes (inner and outer).

Re: Invite question

According to Crane's Wedding Blue Book, proper etiquette for addressing invites:

Married Couple in which woman kept her maiden name:

Outer Envelope:
Ms. Christine Pritchert
and Mr. Troy Clayton

Inside Envelope:
Ms. Pritchert
and Mr. Clayton

Married couple with children under 18 living at home:

Outer Envelope:
Mr. and Mrs. Troy Clayton

Inner Envelope:
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton
Marvin and Heather

Re: Invite question

For the married couple who did not change their name:

Mr. John Doe and Ms. Jane Smith
(one line)

***when a couple is unmarried and living together, you are supposed to put her name first...but in keeping with tradition, the married couple is man then wife...Mr.&Mrs. so it's a safe move to put the man first and then the wife....but she is 'Ms.' not Mrs....some people forget that.

for the kids...

i've heard 2 ways:

#1
OUTER ENVELOPE:
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Black
1234 main st
anytown, US 12345

INNER ENVELOPE:
Jim, Susan, Kelly and Joseph
or
Mr. and Mrs. Black, Kelly and Joseph
or
Mr. and Mrs. Black and family....

#2
OUTER ENVELOPE:
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Black
Kelly and Joseph

INNER ENVELOPE:
see #1

I'd always go with whatever fits, first. You can be as correct as possible, but if it doesn't fit it stinks.
