Invite Question

Invite Question

I have been sitting here trying to properly phrase wording on our invitations...I am struggling in 2 areas...

1...after I write 'request the honor of your presence'...what are you writing??? 'at the ceremony uniting them in marriage' is all I have come up with so far...and...

2. What does your wording on the reception card say?

Your help is greatly appreciated TIA

Re: Invite Question

i had a hard time with this too.

i ended up doing

our names

together with our families

invite you to celebrate our wedding day
Saturday, the thirty-first of May
etc

i wanted a less formal invite and we are hosting. I started with 'request the honour of your presence as they exchange wedding vows' or at 'a celebration of their marriage' and i didn't like any.

google invitation wording; you'll get a bunch

Re: Invite Question

We did the traditional wording for the invite:

Mr. and Mrs. xxxx
request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter

Denise Ann
to
Kristopher William xxxxxxx

Sunday, the twenty-seventh of April
etc

Our response card says:

Kindly respond on or before March 27, 2008

M_____________________

__will attend
__will not attend

Oh, and the reception card says:

Please join us for a Reception
at six o'clock in the evening
Majestic Gardens
blah blah blah

I'm struggling with this too, it seems like the easiest thing until you have to actually do your own LOL!!

Re: Invite Question

What is the proper etiquette or the reason behind spelling honor: honour?

Does anyone know?

Its just more formal

Re: Invite Question

agreed, we did honour because it's more formal.

FM me if you want to see our proofs -- we did the traditional brides parents as host with no reception card (just 'reception immediately following' at the bottom since we are getting married at our hall
