If you need to guarantee 120 guest, how many people do you need to invite? I have to make up our list this week. TIA

Re: Invite Question
It really depends...are you inviting a lot of people you expect to say no (like courtesy invites? My dad has aunts and uncles that we had to invite but are all too elderly to attend)? I think I've heard the average is 20% decline, but you really never know!!
I tried to gauge it by going through our guest list and adding 1 for everyone I was positive will come, 1/2 for everyone I thought might come, and 0 for everyone who I was sure wouldn't come. Obviously it's still not accurate but it gave me an idea and helped me think about my guest list more!

Re: Invite Question
If most people live in the state where the wedding is taking place it is usually 10-20% decline rate. Everyone is telling me the people you least expect to come are the ones who actually respond yes! lol!

i agree, i did the same thing. Some were courtesy invites but even those you never know lol. Some we were positive weren't coming, for example a couple in florida whose wedding we went to last year, well they would've come but she is 8 months pregnant so its impossible now hahaha. And there were a few others we knew 100% about, so just go through your list. Some you know are definitely yes

Re: Invite Question
this is hard, bc everyone says 20-30percent - but you dont know! A girl on here had almost everyone come!!
What we did was made a list of people we HAD to invite - even tho they wont come (mostly old and far away) and then we made another list. I have to have 150. Wanted to invite 200 including those people. Unfortunatley it got carried away to 265

Re: Invite Question
Def take the 20% decline rate into account... I never thought that many people would respond no, but I just figured it out and it's actually 24%! We had originally said we would have 150 ppl but thankfully we lowered our guarantee to 125. We made it by ONE person!!

Re: Invite Question
Thanks guys for all your advice. I am going to shoot for the 20% and then see where we are at that point.
