Invite question

Instead of a room block can I just do a hotel area suggestion?
We are getting married on a holiday weekend and I really don't feel like calling OOT family (mostly FH) to find out if they are going to come or not. So can I just send area suggestions with the invite, since I'm have accommodations as part of my pocket folds?
Thanks

Re: Invite question

not sure I understand the question. What would the difference be between the accommodations and the area hotels? Or are you saying that in the accommodations section of the invitation, you'll just write in suggested hotels instead of blocking rooms?

I'm sorry it is so confusing.
basically when I send the invite can I just suggest hotels and NOT block rooms anywhere.

if you're asking if u should block rooms vs. not blocking them...my opinion is that yes, you should block rooms since its a holiday weekend because u dont want your oot guests to not have a place to stay. hotels in this area go quickly and some oot ppl make not know to book early and then wont have a place to stay.

in your invites u can put hotel rooms are blocked ____ but u may stay at these other places _____

depending on the hotel...u can cancel unblocked hotel rooms a certain time frame before the date without being charged. so i would pick one hotel and find out their policy. most likely u will need a few rooms for your immediate family anyway.

But blocking rooms are of no cost to you, right? If that is indeed the case, then I would suggest blocking rooms. I wouldn't call and see who's coming and who isn't. Count how many rooms you would need if 75% of your OOT were coming. Leave it at that.

Yes you can definitely do that. I'd did 2 hotels though with different price ranges.

I would recommend blocking rooms since it is a holiday weekend. What if there are none avail...you should really do this. it's so important!!

Your not under obligation. I blocked rooms in 3 hotels.

I agree with this, DEFINITELY block rooms for your guests ESPECIALLY because its a holiday weekend.

Hotels sell out. If you block rooms, your guests will have a place to stay. If you don't, well .... they may end up having to sleep in their cars

Me too, I sent a simple print out of 2 diff hotels, with my STD cards. I only blocked rooms at 1, but it was after I sent the STD's. The other hotel I didnt block rooms at, because I would be responsible for paying the rooms that remained.

When you send info about the accommodations it should tell them the date to book by. If they book after it's their problem it's a higher rate and they face the chance of the hotel being sold out. You can always word it in a way that says, book soon because the hotel will sell out quickly!
