Invite question - adult children get their own and others related ...

#1: We are inviting FH's boss, his wife and their two children. All of them work at the car shop FH works out (boss is owner, wife does bookkeeping, son does towing, and daughter helps when she is not in college). They all live at the same place. I made one invite for the parents. Do I need to send two separate invites for the kids (who are 20 and 25 I think) or can I send one for the two of them?

#2: FH has an aunt who lives with a woman - we all suspect they are partners but it's never been said. Should I send one invite with both names on it, or two separate invites?

TIA!

The son should get his own. The way I did it was if they were in college and they are working full time they get an invite.

I would put on the inner envelope Aunt Sally & Guest. Let her make the decision if she wants to bring her friend or not.

Well, I've been told the friend MUST be invited - I have her name and everything. I'm thinking that since she wouldn't be invited if she were not friends with the aunt, her name should appear on the outer envelope, not get her own ... same as I have done with other friends who are dating - the girlfriend of a friend who I don't know that well would not be invited had it not been for the friend, so they get one invite, not two ... ??

Hmm, that is a toughie. But its really only couples / families that share an invite, someone correct me if I'm wrong. . .

You can put them both on one and if they say anything or get offended, just say that you were running tight on invitations and hope they understand. But - I think it will be obvious that you see them as 'together' if they don't get invited with separate dates anyway

I agree... I'd send them 2 separate invites if they have not made it public that they are (or aren't) a couple, it may seem presumptuous to send one with both names together...

I am just about to print this and now I don't know what to do! I think I will print one for now (which is what I think I did with the STD... never heard anything bad about that ... ) and ask FH when I get home. I have plenty of extras.

I will give the two kids their own invites.

Thanks!

Just to complicate the issue... I'd give them one.

Etiquette Shmetiquette!

If they live together, I don't see the big deal. It may be totally wrong, but I don't have the brain capacity to get hung up on these things. I know people are different, but I can't ever imagine getting mad at the wording of the address on an invitation.
