Invite question! need major help!

is the middle of next month to early to send out invites for my wedding in may?? we have an A and B list so we wanted to send them out earlier. i was thinking sending them out feb 12th and rsvp by april 27th. AND........ would it be rude to be on the # of seats something like this....

_of 2 will be attending
_of 3 will be attending and so on

I need something like this because my mother in law to be wants to invite child and im saying HELL no and i want the people coming to know its husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend. no friends no child! is that a rude way to put it??

I would have the RSVP date one full month before the wedding.

They say to send it out 6-8 weeks ahead of time...so two months would be good.

YEAH I ALWAYS HEARD 6-8 WEEKS PRIOR AS WELL.. BUT I WILL BE PURCHASING MY STAMPS WEEKLY
