Ok, my friend who does invites for a living is making mine. I already posted a while ago about how FH's family is HUGEEE (his mom is 1 of 15 kids and dad is 1 of 10) so I am a bit nervous about an out of control guestlist. We have decided that on his side of the family, we will be able to invite all of the aunts & uncles, and only very few close cousins (his grandma on his mom's side has 67 grandkids---so this is insane!) We are also not inviting any kids--except for the kids in our BP and two families who are coming from Ireland, who obvs cannot leave their kids and go off to a diff country.
In his family, putting Mr & Mrs. Blahblah on the inner envelope means nothing. People still RSVP with kids even though their invite might not say 'Mr. & Mrs. Blahblah & family'. This happened with both of FSIL's weddings. So I need something that will reinforce my need for a strict guestlist. FH and my mom do not want 'Adult Reception' on the invites. So here is my dilemma with invitation wording. Which do you think is better for the response card:
1) 'Two seats have been reserved for __Mr & Mrs. Blahblah_' and then have them check off 'graciously accepts' or 'declines'
OR
2) Put '# of adults' instead of 'graciously accepts' and then have a spot to check off if they decline
OR
any suggestions would be welcome!
TIA girls!!

Re: Invite Question--please help!
If you don't want to put 'adult reception', then I think choice 1 looks the best. If they're the type of people who would bring their children even though the invite didn't say 'and family', they might be the type who would think kids are invited and you only need an 'adult' headcount if you use choice 2. So stick with #1.

Re: Invite Question--please help!
well i think adult reception would be best but since thats not an option i would put the first one you mentioned.... if you put #of adults someone may take it upon themselves to invite a guest

Re: Invite Question--please help!
I have the same problem with my side of the family. So to not have any misunderstanding I have on the first line of the RSVP:
_ of _ , which means, I have reserved _ of 2 seats.
That way they can't say they did not see it because they would have to changed it to add on. I am so looking forward to telling people off.

Re: Invite Question--please help!
I would DEF do personalized response cards!
I am getting them too bc Fh's family is HUGE and we are having an adult only reception
My card reads..
Mr. & Mrs. Bob Smith
2 seats have been reserved for you
__accepts with pleasure __ denies with regret
This way it would take a VERY BOLD person to actually cross off the pre printed number and write in a new one.

I posted almost the same thing a few months ago because I have the same dilemma, my family does not understand (or cares for) invitation protocols, they would come with whoever. so I went with option #1. Goodluck!
