Invite question poll for those that are married.

Still going back and forth on the whole Black Tie Optional or nothing on the invitation.

I'd love to get some info on what those that are married have done.

Poll please.

is your reception black tie only? if it's preferred or optional, I think it may look pretentious to those who actually would not wear a tux to your wedding. (just my opinion)

JMHO, but I HATE when people put black tie on an invitation. After all of the other expenses that your guests have, why add on the expense of renting a tux or buying a formal dress?

i look at it differently. to me black tie optional is just that - black tie OPTIONAL. the main purpose of including a dress code that says black tie optional is to set the TONE for the wedding.

i have been to many wedding where girls wear summer dresses and guys wear a pair of khaki pants, shirt and tie. i don't really like seeing that because if you don't get dressed up to a wedding then what else in this world is worthy enough to get dressed up for? obviously if someone is 16 and they can't afford such attire, that might be different.

but i think it is completely okay for people to know that the event is one notch below formal - so don't wear a summer dress, wear the nicest dress you have in your closet. and because it's optional that means that you are not expected to wear a tux and a ballgown, it means come dressed with the nicest stuff you have in your closet. or you can always use it as a reason to buy another nice dress. lol.
