Invite question: Response cards...

How do you know which type to choose?
Does the caterer tell you to include the dinner choices so they know ahead of time?

Response Examples:

Re: Invite question: Response cards...

I do not know the answer to your question, but I have never been to a wedding where they asked me my meal on the response. I just got invited to a bar mitzvah in Iowa, and they asked. How am I supposed to know what I want for dinner a month from now? I would call your hall and check, but I don't think you need to do that.

I just received a wedding invitation with the meal request on it.
Our catering hall never made mention of us having to do that.

I would just call them and ask. They will be able to tell you.

Re: Invite question: Response cards...

i did get a response card with our choiceof food on it - it wasfor a wedding out of state - and on the wedding day we also got cards that said either chicken or beef that we had to keep on the table - i know you won't be going that far but read your post and remembered how funny it was....my fh and i joked we wouldn't just write the word but instead have a picture of a chicken, cow or fish on a card for everyone at our wedding......

I would ask your hall before writing it in. I always thought it was a little strange to ask your guests waht they wanted a month in advance, but I gues some caterers need to know how much food to have on hand.

The reason they ask for food is because it changes the cost per head. Here in NY unless you upgrade to like a filet mignon(sp) or lobster, we get charged the same. Out of state that isn't the case (even jersey does this - ewww jersey!) Thus chicken costs less than beef and so on - as much as 3 dollars a head difference

We look forward to celebrating with you!

I wouldn't add the meal choice if it wasn't absolutely requested by the caterer.
