I'm a teacher, and am planning on inviting my assistants to my wedding. I have three assistants and a 1:1 para in my classroom. Long story short, two of my TAs are single, my 1:1 is married, and one was separated until recently.
Her husband is abusive, and long story short, in the beginning of the school year, there was A LOT of drama that happened at the school. Because of him, all of our security and visitor rules were changed. She recently went back to him, which is just berserk. Trust me, you'd go ballistic if you heard the entire story.
Anyhow, I'm planning on inviting all of my girls as singles (again, two are single), because I DON'T want him at my wedding. I already told two of my girls in confidence, because they seemed a little miffed to not be invited with guest. In front of her, I said it was to keep costs down (which it honestly is as well).
Is it all right to do what I'm doing, or do I need to invite him because he's her husband? Now I'm panicking that if he's not invited, he'll show up because he thinks she's with another guy...but I'm sure I'm just overreacting!!!
ANY ADVICE HELPS!! Thanks in advance!!

Re: Invite Question - SENSITIVE TOPIC & LONG!
I think it's fine! When I had 6 TAs and one got married we were all invited as single guests. It's not like theyre a close friend. It's nice to go out with the girls sometimes.
When any of the teachers I know would get married they would invite just us girls, unless it was like a close friend situation.

I think it's perfectly fine not to invite him. If there is anything said about it, you can just tell people you're trying to keep costs down and not everyone will be able to have a plus one. I think since it is work friends, that's a perfectly acceptable table to include just the girls and no other guests. Good luck, I'm sure everything will be just fine!

I don't think it's a big deal. I think it might be weird if you gave a +1 to the other assistants. Don't worry about it!

I really don't think their is anything wrong with not including guests with your assistants. My mom is doing something similar with her friends... She wants the wedding to be a fun girls night for them all so.. NO HUSBANDS ALLOWED!! They all love the idea, and hopefully your girls do too!!

I think you are doing the right thing. The girls can keep each other company and you are being fair by not letting any of them have guests.

I agree with what you are doing. It's also going to be cheaper for you too. You will only be inviiting 4 instead of 8 (if u did guests) I think it's fine!

I know my coworkers, the few Im actually inviting, would actually prefer going solo. Especially in the education field, it ends up being mostly teacher talk anyway!!! You can just say that everyone is invited solo because you're keeping the list small.

I completely understand why you're doing it that way, especially considering the psycho, but I still think that it's unusual to invite a married (or engaged) person without their spouse/fiance(e).

I think it is respectful that you inviting everyone you work with without a guest. I don't think this is wrong of you, you want to celebrate with them and they should be there for you. As long as you keep it fair between all of them then it shouldnt be a problem
