Invite question with poll

Invite question with poll

So now, OF COURSE, since my invites should have gone out like YESTERDAY and the RSVP date on my cards is less than 6 weeks away, now FH is asking me 'Shouldn't we do inner envelopes?'

Why is he asking?

Because all of a sudden FMIL thinks it's something we should do.

We asked for opinons on the invites like 400 times and NOW, NOW that they are all done, ready to be stufffed and sent, NOW she has a suggestion.

How many of you had both inner and out envelopes, and if you did how were they addressed respectively?

My thing is that we were only planning on 1 envelope, those are already done in calligraphy so if we do inner envelopes ourselves it's going to look stupid.

Thanks!

Oh, PS, We have a pocketfold invite, so the enclosures are in a pocket, they're not just floating around in the envelope.

I don't think an inner envelope is necessary at all if you're doing a pocketfold invite. It's just another piece of wasted paper that people will throw away in my opinion

i'm also doing pocketfolds and i have both an inner and outer envelope.

they're not really necessary, but i liked the look of them.

i would just tell your FMIL that it's too late and the envelopes are already sealed

She know they aren't because they're at her house, FH lives there and there's no room in my small apartment to work on them. Otherwise I'd have totally told her that.

Why can't people give opinions when they're asked? Now that I don't want one,now you have one? To effing bad!

ha, there goes my plan

i would tell her that it would take too long to get the inner envelopes done with the calligrapher and they needed to be out already.

id just tell her that its too late due to the calligraphy issue...
are they already written out?

you'd have to buy bigger envelopes than you already have and those would have to be addressed, and the inners are only supposed to have the names, not the address so if they're already done, then those are basically garbage...thats way too much work!

i have a pocketfold and i orig wanted both inner and outer, but honestly, ppl are gonna throw them out and i feel that the pocketfold acts as the inner since it keeps everything together

Yep, said this all to FH already. But, you know, my opinion can never just stand on it's own and be important enough to end the discussion per se. So thanks for backing up what I already knew to be true!

We said no to liners when we ordered because the envelopes are already very thick... it's not an issue of being able to see the invitation. To be honest, I don't know what the issue is... but we said no to liners because they were more money, unnecessary and we spent a fortune on paper already.

And oh, did I mention the invites are DONE and AT FH'S HOUSE READY TO BE STUFFED, SEALED AND SENT? Seriously. She has to practically trip over the box of them on the way to the laundry room in the basement, so she KNOWS THEY ARE DONE. Where was this opinion 6 months ago?

sending you hugs

is she paying for them? maybe tell her that they absolutely have to be done by X date because that's when your invites are going out

or, you could just say **** it and send them they way you want them sent
