I've heard about numbering your response cards so you know who's it is in case the person forgets to put their name...where are you supposed to put the number?? my response cards fold in half....do I put it on the back or on the inside?

On the back corner, really tiny in pencil. This way only you will see it, and only if you have to!
Don;t forget a list of who gets what number or it wont be any help
