So I'm in the process of doing the final touches on the invites and the wedding is going to take place on a Friday evening, at 8pm.
People have been telling me to put that the ceremony will take place at 7:30pm instead so that no one is late but I don't want people to be waiting around forever. What do you guys suggest?

Re: Invite Time- Help!
I was concerned about this too, but the person we ordered our invites from told us to put the actual time. It wasn't a problem - as far as I know, everyone was there on time.

I would go with the real start time. If people are planning to be there they will be. I wouldn't want to have people waiting and them getting upset because of the wait time. Hth

Re: Invite Time- Help!
we put 30 mins early and it was perfect...everyone was seated and we were ready to start the ceremony on time. its been three months and not one person has commented that we started late or that they had to wait the 30 minutes. imo, its better to have everyone there and wait then have them come in during the ceremony.

Re: Invite Time- Help!
My hall offers champagne prior and closes the doors just before ceremony (for privacy), so said to write: Refreshments 6PM Ceremony PROMPTLY at 630PM
maybe if you write the promptly, it will help people be on time??

Re: Invite Time- Help!
Ask your RH what they recommend. If they are having refreshments prior to your ceremony, putting the ceremony time 30 minutes earlier on the invitation isn't am issue.

Re: Invite Time- Help!
When my cousin got married they put 6:15 for there 6:30 wedding. I don't think anyone noticed. It was enough time for people running late yet the people on time were not waiting that long.

Re: Invite Time- Help!
Thanks for all of the advice, everyone! I'm going to call Fox Hollow and see if they do a reception thing with drinks for people who do come early. I'm always late for everything, so I never mind when people make early b/c I never make it there anyway. I'm terrible. lol

personally i would NOT suggest doing this...whenever DH and i get invites that say this (a start time of 15 of 45) we always know that it means the start time is 15 mins later and so we plan to arrive on time at 6:30 instead of 6:15.

Re: Invite Time- Help!
I went to a wedding at FH and they put 30 min early on the invite. They put us in the restuarunt and maybe had coffee/snacks (it was a morning wedding). But since your wedding is on a Friday night, I'd be pretty annoyed if I just sat around for a half hour doing nothing since I'd be rushing from work. I'd rather have that half hour to not rush and get ready, and I'm the type of person that's late to everything.

Its funnt you mentioned this i was thinking the same thing for me. Ceremony is @7 but thinkinnof saying 6:30 because fox hollow said hospitality at 630 meaning lil refreshments and drinks. I may put 630 esp since fam is from bklyn.
