Invite Vent

Invite Vent

I sent out my invites at the end of the day Sunday. So everyone should just about get them Wednesday. Now I told everyone (even posted a blog on myspace) how I had to mail them out in two batches because I messed up on some and needed more stamps. ok

So last night I get a message from my aunt how she got her invite and how beautiful it was and for me to call my grandmother (her mother) because she wants to talk to me about something. She calls to find out if two of my other aunts are invited. One I have never even heard of before! Hello! Who is this woman?!?! 'Oh she is your grandfather's sister'

This aunt cant tell me from my sister who is three years younger than me and I should invite her? I am just so mad because FH and I are paying for this ourselves and my family are just driving me to a point where I want to elope!

Sorry I had to vent.

Re: Invite Vent

We are so sorry to hear about that. When we were sending our engagement annoucements and invitations to our engagement party something like that happen. FMIL forgot to give me a address for FH relative. Fh relative's wife got upset because we did not send them. As soon as I got the address I sent announcement, invitation, and a letter saying that we were sorry but we were not given the address. They did not attend in engagement party most likely because they were busy. They are attending our wedding. At this point I just make sure we are more organized. Here are some hugs.

Vent away! Sorry you have to deal with this. I posted about a similar situation. FH's extended family--great aunts/uncles, 3rd cousins that we NEVER see think they're invited. Sorry, they're not. We saw one of them last christmas eve. He's never said two words to us and then says 'see you at the wedding!' as he's leaving. Hello??

I don't know what it is about weddings that bring out the worst in some people.

We are keeping our wedding small, I'm not looking forward to the reactions we are going to get when we send out the invites.

Sorry you are dealing with this

Re: Invite Vent

Definitely be strong - FH insisted we invite a ton of people he works with (he's a police office). Then those who we didn't invite were giving him grief so we invited them too - now we have invited close to 300 people!

I haven't slept since the invites went out, my hair is coming out in clumps - I'm praying for people to say no - and no one is! I have no clue how we're going to pay for everyone.

So moral of the story is PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN! Don't be a wimp like me!

i can commiserate!!! please don't feel bad - and don't elope! you deserve a beautiful, happy wedding day - without relatives you don't even know! i am amazed i haven't flipped out on the FIL's yet (well, FH did, but that's nother story) - just ride it out! you will be married soon and no one will remember who was or wasn't invited

Re: Invite Vent

What's really great is that when you invite them, some will never answer whether they're coming or not, and some will RSVP that they're coming but not show up. Luckily, I only had the first happen to me, but I've heard about the second from friends. (And, yes, I did call the non-responders, several times, leaving messages. No call back.)
