Invite Versing

We're kinda 50/50 with which way to phrase it....

Option 1: Brides Parents and Grooms Parents request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their children'

Option 2: Brides Parents and Grooms Parents request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of their children'

Thoughts?

Yea, that was the one I liked from the beginning. I agree that it definitely sounds more 'formal' and our wedding is black tie so i think its certainly more fitting.

honour is used for a house of worship usually or a religious ceremony at the least...

i just love how it sounds regardless so i'd use it anyway even if i wasn't getting married in church!

Yea, this is what our invites designer said, but I don't think anyone actually knows about this. My mom wasn't even aware there were THAT many options of how to word these things...so I'm sure most people are none the wiser.

Re: Invite Versing

this is the wording we chose.

a little back story. FH and I are paying for 80% of our wedding. my parents are picking up the rest. FILs are paying for the RD and they did 1/2 the engagement party.

if i went with more traditional wording though, i probably would have gone with #1

Thanks girls !!! I think I was leaning towards #1 from the beginning.

It's definitely the more formal, traditional choice. I also think that it's more suited for a black tie wedding, which is what ours is.

I hope to see invite proofs next week and can't wait to post those
