invite wording

My fh's father has passed away, but we would like to put his moms name on the invitation...should we put

son of Mrs. Moms First Name, Moms Last Name


or

son of Mrs. Dads First Name, Last name

We put
son of
Ms. Jane Smith and the late Bob Smith

this is a personal decision - either one is fine, etiquette-wise. i was in a similar situation with my mom, so i ended up just asking her how she would rather be addressed in the invite. she said she preferred her own first name to my dad's. so... why not just ask fh's mom what she prefers?

I had a friend use that too...I cried when I read it.

It depends what the mom is comfortable with. I think you should ask her. If she's really sensitive about it, don't use his name, use her's.
