Thank you soooo much! I really appreciate you looking!!! The invitation people told me to put the 'late' MIL. I just wasn't sure if I should do that or just put her name. Thanks!

Re: Invite wording
It's up to you whether you want to put the deceased parents name on the invitaiton. My father passed away almost 2 years ago. At first I wanted to put his name on it like this: Mrs. Roberta XXX and the late Mr. Michael XXX request the honour....
After thinking about it and discussing it with my mom and others, we decided against it. Instead I'm putting his name instead of my mom's name: Mrs. Michael XXX requests the honour...
I have seen several girls on here and on other invitations outside of here that have put their deceased parents name. It's really up to you and how comfortable you feel about it.

Re: Invite wording
I know it's hard when you have a death of a parent.... but IMO, it doesn't make sense to put them on there..... DH's mother is gone and we honored her in our wedding program, not the invitation. we wanted to keep the invite happy. when you have parents names on an invite, it insinuates that they are hosting and will be in attendance and that is clearly not possible.
i have seen the 'late mr. or mrs. smith', but again, due to the above reasoning, i don't like it.
if it a father that has passed and provided the mother was never remairred, a Mrs. (father's first name) Smith works, because it honors her and in a very subtle way, the father.
good luck to you... it's a tough situation... i did not put 'late' and the name on mine.... it didn't make sense to me as well as being sad. we honored her in our program and at our Mass instead.
