Invite wording help

What is the correct wording for the parents?

It is with joy that we,

Mary Smith
and
John Smith
together with our parents,
Michael and Mary Smith
and
Joseph and Joan Smith

i was told it should be written
Mr and Mrs Michael Smith
and
Mr and Mrs Joseph Smith

**Does it really matter?

THIS

but it definitely doesn't really mater ... nobody will be over-analyzing your invitation wording

You can do it either way. Excluding the M.r & Mr.s is a more casual way to do it. All depends on what you want to portray to your guests... formal or casual

I feel like this is less wordy, so I'd go with that ...otherwise there are names all over the place

I personally like the parents first names included.

I ENJOY HAVING THE FULL NAMES...WHAT IF YOU DID YOUR OWN THING AND DID LIKE A COMBO...MR & MRS JOHN & JANE DOE?...BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, MAYBE?

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Smith is more formal...I would go with that

Re: Invite wording help

I would put Mr. and Mrs. b/c it looks more formal and I'm not sure if you were aware of this but I actually learned that the placement of the names depends on who is paying for your wedding.

So if your parents are paying for it, it should read:

Mr & Mrs Michael Smith
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter...etc

If both sets of parents are paying for it (or you just want both to be included on the invitation), it should read:

Mr. & Mrs. Michael Smith
and
Mr. & Mrs. John Smith
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their children...etc.

I just included the additional language after the parents names so you could get an idea.

Agreed! The most formal wording is this.

I know when I get an invite I don't read the whole thing. I just look at the date and where.

Re: Invite wording help

I have read up a LOT about invitation wording etiquette (bc of my future in-laws)

The proper way would be:
Mr & Mrs. Michael SMith

However if the parents are divorced you would spell out their first names.

But honestly...it makes no difference, no one is going to criticize one way or another (unless you have relatives like my FMIL )
