Invite Wording Question

Jane Doe and John Smith
Together with our families, request the honour of your
presence at their marriage

OR

Jane Doe and John Smith
Together with their families, request the honour of your
presence at their marriage

I think the first one is correct but it sounds weird to me some times.

I highlighted the difference...

I think I liked #2 - but I thikn I finally agreed upon #1 when I sat with Laura (LA Productions). Now that I'm reviewing the proof, I'm all confused again!!

I think #2 is correct. If #1 said our marriage, then it would be right. JMO.

The first one does not make sense. Together with OUR families.....at THEIR marriage. Whose marriage? The families marriage? Jane and John's marriage? I mean, I get it, but I think it sounds wrong. I've seen the second one in a few places, though I don't completely love that way of saying it either.

Jordan, take it from someone who almost reprinted my entire invitations - AFTER receiving my full order...if you think about it too much, your head will explode!

that, and your average blind guest wont even notice!!

Re: Invite Wording Question

Grammatically speaking, you should be consistent. So

Together with our families
Jane
and
Bob
invite you to our wedding

OR

Together with their families
Jane
and
Bob
invite you to their wedding

I did #2.

Rebecca, I know - I'm already . Wait until I see the final product in my hand. I'll really be .

Thanks Nadine and Kel - I think I'm going to go with my gut and go with #2.

For what it's worth, we did

Jane Doe
and
John Smith
together with their parents
request the honour of your presence....

Absolutely true. Don't mix up the 'ours' and 'theirs' in the same invite. Personally, I'd go with the second option above.
