I was just asking myself that same question - we have a christening at the end of Jan. For my best friend. We were thinking $100.
I thought of giving a savings bond but a friend said that her husband tried to use a bond that he got from his christening 30 YEARS ago and it still was not mature. That's annoying!
But I don't want to give them cash that they use on themselves - shouldn't it be used for the baby or for the baby to use when she gets older?????

Most parents put it in an account for the baby or put it on a cd. Thats what we did with whatever cash our son recieved at a christening. We always give between 100-150 for christenings. The average was about 150-200 per couple for my sons baptism.

I would say 50-100.
I also suggest bonds.
We recently used our first communion and Christening bonds to pay for closing on our house!
