Re: invites
I think for my own peace of mind I will bring my invites to the post office. I don't know what hand cancelled is. I never heard of it.

Re: invites
I took mine to the post office. I had all of mine hand stamped/hand cancelled. When they hand stamp them, they don't put them through the regular machine that they use. Everything is done by hand to ensure that the invites aren't crushed or ruined

Re: invites
When you mail anything they put it through a machine which stamps the stamp and cancels it. It's the red stap on all of the mail you get, shows that the stamp has been used. When you hand cancel something a post office employee will stamp each envelope by hand while you wait. It's been said that invitations can get ruined in these machines, so a lot of brides opt do have it done this way for peace of mind. After all, some people spend a small fortune on their invites!

No, it won't cost you anything extra. This is just a nice service that many PO employees do for brides. They understand this isn't 'regular' mail to us.

No, it doesn't cost more to have them hand-stamp, they just post-mark the envelope with the red stamper so that it doesn't go through the machine and run those tracks across your outer envelope.

No it doesn't cost more to have them handstamped. I'd definitely bring them to the post office, not just a mailbox.
