I went to a planning event and they said to order your invites 6 months in advance in order to send them out 8 weeks before your wedding.

Same here... I plan on ordering 6 months in advance (I want to make absolutely certain nothing that goes on there is going to change).
We are ordering ours from InvitationsbyDawn.com.

Im getting samples from companies now just to see what goes best with our theme. Im going to order them next year and probably going to use our Wedding Coordinator she does invites

All of the artwork has been done and we have ok'd the wording, etc. We are planning on ordering around the end of Sept (5 months out) and are mailing them out mid-november (3 months out). It's a little earlier than you're 'supposed' to, but I don't want our invites to get mixed in with X-mas cards.
