Invites - am I purposefully driving myself insane? (Long - sorry)

Invites - am I purposefully driving myself insane? (Long - sorry)

I need to know if you guys think I am simply insane, or a normal bride. Here's the problem - I have looked at a ton of invites, and can't find anything I like. Today, in the car, I thought of an invite style I might like - sort of a combination of two different invites I've seen. However, to do what I want, I would have to order invites from our invite printer, and then have to design and find someone to print clear labels to seal the invites. (I was thinking of a design that is a spinoff of our STDs.) Anyway, my FH, who worries when I take on too much (which I do sometimes) says - why would you want to make this process harder, and take on more work to stress yourself out?

So, what do I do? Do I take on the project of creating and designing a label, and finding someone to print it (or do it myself), or do I just suck it up and order an invite that is just as nice, but not quite what I want? Sorry this is so long, but now, I don't know what to do. Please help. I have a LOT on my plate right now, over and above the wedding, so I am just not sure what to do. I worry by taking on too much, I'll take the joy right out of this!

Edited for spelling error.

I feel your pain. I take on too much myself and lately have been so overworked and stressed. If the invitations really meant that much to you, you'll have to take it on. But if you want to put your energy elsewhere, you can always buy the invites you like the most. But if you are anything like me, that won't make you happy. I'm sorry, let me know if I can help.

Normal bride -- keep looking. I think it is a BIGGER job than you realize to DIY and you will find something.

Thanks!! I feel a little better. If I do, however, need to print clear labels - anyone know where I can buy some good ones?

i would keep looking or find a way to love ones you are hesitant about - if you are overwhelmed, sick and exhausted over the custom invites it will cause you not to love them as much in the end.

Your invites are out there!

Where have you been looking, and what are you looking for? Maybe we can help...

Ok. Here's what I was thinking . . .

I wanted a card type invite, with silver accents (writing, simple border, etc.), but no pics or designs Then, I wanted some sort of overlay (vellum?) with some wording we pick - not the standard ones they give you - printed on it. But I can't find anything where you can print on an overlay. I found a nice invite with a very pretty vellum overlay, and I came up with the possible idea of making clear labels with wording of our choice on it to seal it. I just wanted something different, since there are a LOT of weddings lately in our circle of family and friends. I wanted to stand out a little, I hope that is not wrong to feel that way. Can you help?

Check out this lady. She makes her own invites. She did all my e-party invites and they were a hit. She is priced very reasonably. Great service and communication. You can order a sample to see it in person.

I like this for the wedding but with red ribbon. Picture of the invite and matching program.

Those exaples are pretty. The more I think about it, I think you may not want to do this yourself. We did our engagement party invites and that was so much work and energy, I cannot imagine the wedding. Good luck

Yes I agree with her. I have heard stories from 2 friends who made their own invites and they said they were not as easy as they had hoped.

Thanks you guys! (I wish they had a happy tears blinkie. ) Those are great ideas - I'll have to check them out. And all of the invites posted here are really pretty - they're great suggestions. I'm becoming inspired to keep looking!!

omg! i totally understand what you're going through! i wasnt too crazy about the wedding invites out there also. after a while, they all seem to look alike.

a friend of mine, Marisa was able to help me create my invite/rsvp. wish i could put up my invite on this site but the rsvp is similar to it. after creating the image i brought it over to a print shop located in chinatown/soho and did a fab job! if you are interested in speaking to my friend pls tell me so.

good luck with your search!

Thank you girls so much for your advice. I actually think we may have one - my mom and my FH sat at my kitchen table this Sunday, and took my ideas and ran with them - creating an invite I really like. If I order them, which I think I probably will but want to run by my FMIL first, I'll post them!

Love FH, love mom, love you guys!
