Invites are MAILED

so..went to the post office after work and hand cancelled them myself. The clerk said they would leave a note for someone to hand cancel them in the back but a warning for all...if you dont do them your self..they most likeyl wont get done. Another tip he gave me was this....
I put my return address on th eback flap because I dont like how it looks on the front with the pretty calligrpahy BUT...Mr. PostMas said...Bad Idea...when i asked why he said that even though they are hand cancelled...at some point they will go in a machine and if they go in the wrong why by mistake (which happens a lot apparenty) ...instead of being spit out becaue the back is blank...they might be mailed right back to me! well..I guss theres nothing I can do about that now...and I am sure the chances of that happening are slim!

Hand canceling simply means that a human stamps a mark over the postage stamp (so the stamp can't be reused), instead of putting it through a machine to do the same thing. Some wedding invitations (or other mail) can get destroyed going through the machines, especially if they are very bulky or have a wax seal.

I dont really follow the part about the return address on back though. Why would it be mailed back to you if the address is clearly on the front as well?

They dont all go through the machine. Because like mine i had a brooch & they wouldnt fit in the machine. Also, they hand cancelled all of them for me & everyone got their invite pretty & clean. Also, we put our address on the back. Everyone does that. I think you just had a grumpy post master.

But im super happy your invites are out! YAY!!!!!!
