Invites are out!!!

Invites are out!!!

So I just dropped off our invites at the Post Office. Kind of bummed though since they wouldn't hand cancel them for me...also said that it is an additional $.20 for each one to be hand cancelled!
So hopefully they make it ok!!1

It's getting real!!!

What is hand cancel??

It is when they stamp them by hand rather then sending them through the machine. It is the round stamp that has the date and place of origin on it.

Re: Invites are out!!!

I sent mine out on Saturday and they did NOT say anything about an extra .20 for hand stamping!!! Make sure you find out about that I think they are wrong! I went to the post office in Roosevelt field on Sunday, they are open from 12-4 or 5 and they took them and hand cancelled them for free!

Once the invites go in the mail it feels so official - Now you've got something to look forward to in the mail - all the rsvps!

Congratulations - times gonna fly

Right now, I feel like I have everything under control. Getting programs, menus etc done now..since it will be crazy in December. Plus planning from half way across the country doens't let you slack off! Anyone else worry that all their invites will get lost the in the mail????!!

Congrats! It's such a great feeling, isn't it? I sent mine out last week, and it was so great getting my first responses back!!

As for the handcancelling - I don't think that is true about the charge. My friend works for the post office and NEVER mentioned anything like that. I would complain!!

First - congrats on sending your invites out!

Second, with regard to hand cancelling. I sent out my invites last week. I brought them to the post office and had them hand cancelled. Well this weekend I saw one of my invites at my friends and after the post office handcancelled them - they send them through the machine anyway! I was soooooo bummed. But then I took a deep breath and told myself not to sweat the small stuff.

thats absurd! i can't believe they would charge you for that! the woman at the floral park p.o. just gave us the stamp and we went over to a table and did it.

Re: Invites are out!!!

I'm in Texas, so maybe it is a local thing...which would be wierd since the post office is a federal institution. Oh well...no biggie...the way I see it. x-mas cards, b-day cards and other stuff go through the machine all the time and get delivered just fine so...it's all good! After I realized that stressing over the ugly stamps available was ridiculous, this is just as not-worth-the-worry!!!

Re: Invites are out!!!

You are absolutely right, I stopped stressing about the ugly stamps too and just put them on and sent them out. If it gives me stress it is off the list!
