I'm standing there hand canceling 120 invites, by my lonesome (with a smile on my face), staking them neatly into the bin they had given to me...when out of the blue this older postman comes walking over and says really loud and obnoxiously 'OH YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE NEAT ABOUT IT, THEY'RE JUST GOING TO GET RUN THROUGH A MACHINE ANYWAY'.....(Now I understand this but can you just let me be) BUT with that he takes a pile of my invites picks them up squeezes them and tries to squeeze them into a spot in the bin where they will not fit but to make matters worse he SLAMS my invites down into the farkin spot that they don't fit in and bends the edges of like TEN of them RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE!!! I was so annoyed so I said 'LISTEN I understand that these will get roughed up...I do, I get it BUT I find it really unnecessary for you to do what you just did in front of my face...you tried to squeeze them into a freakin space that they didn't fit in and now BEFORE it goes into the machine I already have ten of them with BENT edges on it, BAD BENDS & I really don't appreciate it... so he goes 'HA HA HA They're going to go through a machine:, i thought I was going to jump the desk and punch him in the face....I literally gave him a DEATH look and he walked away!!! So this girl I went to HS with works there and she was like 'I'll take care of it, don't mind him'
I mean ***....I understand they are going to get ruined IN THE MACHINE but not by someone slamming them into spaces that they don't fit into! I was so annoyed!!

yeah, I've been there.... not quite as bad.... but yeah...
I went early to our post office and asked them 'can I hand cancel?'. They said yes. I was happy. So.... I jumped through hoops to get the invites out on 2/14, the anniversary of our engagement. That day had horrible weather... I went back to the post office, and I asked to hand cancel the invitations, and they said 'sure, you can do it, but it will be run through the machine anyway!'
What's the purpose of hand cancelling then????
there's nothing you can do..... sometimes they're just aholes...

Ugh!! I'd be freaking annoyed too!! You pay good money for invites you hate to see them get ruined before your very eyes. So unecessary!! I would definitely put in a complaint on him.
Comgrats on getting them in the mail though

there's nothing you can do..... sometimes they're just aholes...
They get run through a sorting machine afterward which is bigger then the machine postmarker....you want to hand cancel b/c those machines are smaller and don't like wedding invitations haha (from my understanding)

OMG, I would have been sooooo mad! After all the hours of work it takes to pick the invites, obsess over the wording, order them, wait for them to come in, address them, etc.... How DARE he just trash them like that????
