The gift has nothing to do with the black tie. I wanted black tie because i was having an elegant saturday night affair.

I understand that completely. Your wedding was gorgeous by the way.

Re: invites - black tie wording??
We are putting Black Tie optional, that way if people have tuxes they can wear them if not it's ok to wear suits....
Another option is Black Tie preferred....

Re: invites - black tie wording??
i put black tie.. i dont care that its a friday night wedding, but for me it was important for people to be a little more formal.. i mean, a wedding is a once in a lifetime event (i hope LOL), i wanted it to be a 'formal' party.. my guests actually want to really dress up

Re: invites - black tie wording??
black tie means a nice black suit or tux and a nice cocktail dress and i really don't think it is sucht a big deal to put it on.
I didn't because I didn't want my guests to be tied down to wearing something and honestly that is more me and dh.
If you want a formal look you have to remember some people traveling don't know where your wedding is so they don't realize if it is not okay to wear a sweater and cargo pants.

Re: invites - black tie wording??
Its not rude to put if it is a black tie affair. LOL. If you put optional though, people might still come in suites and not tuxes cus it said optional. So decide how important it is first before you word it that way.
