I am having my Engagement party in the summer, but who do you invite to your engagement party. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Invites to Engagement Party
we invited about 60 close friends and family, all of whom are invited to the wedding...my OOT family couldn't come, and lots of my coworkers were working, so it was everyone close to us.

Re: Invites to Engagement Party
depends on ur budget & how long ur engagement is really....our e-party was only 9months before our wedding...so we strictly just invited immediate family & the bridal party. kept it small. it was nice if ur wedding is far off than u can do a bigger party with everyone who is invited to the wedding...good luck!

Re: Invites to Engagement Party
We are having an engagement party at the end of April, but not getting married until Jan 2010...However we are having a large eparty...we invited like 120 (which is the max)...Its pretty much most of the people that will be at the wedding...But its up to you and the budget!!!

Re: Invites to Engagement Party
it's really flexible. i've seen everything from a small family dinner party to a wedding before the wedding.
ETA: we had about 60 people (family & friends).

Re: Invites to Engagement Party
We invited family only, and only went as far as siblings, aunts & uncles, and first cousins. We invited ~80 people but only 60 adults and 5 kids attended.

its varies from family to family.. but the one rule is who ever you invite to the engagement party HAS to be invited to the wedding. so i'd stick with close family and friends

Re: Invites to Engagement Party
we are going to only invite close family (aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, and parents) we wanted to keep it small, otherwise it would end up like a mini wedding

Re: Invites to Engagement Party
If I could give you one peice of advice- really consider who you're inviting!
Especially people from work or casual friends- and also who you invite with dates and so forth- you really have to stick with that for the wedding- it would be really hard to explain to someone that yes they were invited to your eparty- but not the wedding! You can really offend people! I had work friends that I dont see anymore and some of FH's friends who brough atrocious dates to the Eparty and we have totally random pics of people we dont know!!
We're lucky in one sense that FH and I are both now with different companies than when we had the E party so work people arent an issue- but they can be! You never know if you're still going to be friends with some people in the next year or so!!
SO-- a long winded way to say- think over your list twice! Make sure that the people that are on your list are people that you can still see in your life 5 years down the line!!!
ETA: we had a fairly large Eparty- about 125 guests we had a long time before the wedding (about 2 years)!
