How much is everyone spending or have budgeted for invitations and postage?

We only budgeted $400 for everything. This is something that most people just throw away so I wanted money to go to things that I consider to be more important.

Invitations are mailed 8 weeks (2 months) before the wedding date.
Most invites aren't $0.39 for postage ... the post office has a cute stamp set -- 1 $0.63 for the invite and 1 $0.39 for the rsvp card.

I'm looking into doing them myself. I just got a great idea from Martha Stewarts Wedding mag for fall 2006. She used a pretty puncher on the invites and envelopes to give them an extra fancy edge. It's usually 2-3 months ahead of the date though.

the only invite that we found and like is costing us a pretty penny. we alos need a lot of peices.. unfortunalty we ahve to order like 375 invites and they are going to cost us like 2k.

OMG!!! Invitations are going to cost you 2K yikes! I am planning on printing my own invites. I brought 2 boxes at Party City and will print them up myself total with ink and stamps around $130

my eparty invited came out great and we did thoose ourselves but to print 350 + invited.. i thinki would go nuts. yeah they are going to cost us alot but oh well.. everything else so far has added up whats one more thing i guess.

375 invites? Yes you're making the right choice in buying them than DIY'ing. Dont make yourself crazy
answer to the original question. most people send them out 6-8 weeks before wedding. i will do it at 10weekd bc i have many out of towners. My budget is around 800 for invites
