Inviting a priest to the reception

Is anyone sending the priest who is marrying them an invitation to the reception?

Did you sent the invite to the church address?

Re: Inviting a priest to the reception

The priest marrying us no longer is associated with my parish (but he is coming back to marry us), so I mailed the invitation to the diocese (that is where he works out of now) but if he was still with my church then I would of sent it to the church.

You're supposed to do this? I'm not inviting my pastor...I'm not really close to him or anything.

I didn't send my Rev. an invitation, but I will extend one to him on the day. I actually forgot about him!!!

We are inviting our priest to come to the wedding and the RD. He has become a big part of our lives and we want him to be there with us.

Our priest is my fathers cousin!! He is awesome! He is actually going to guest appear at my church and perform the ceremony. So he wouldve been invited to the reception anyway... i actually didnt even think about the RD (duh) but yes, to there as well. I think 'they' say that you should invite your priest/officiant.

Our priest is a personal friend of the family. We're sending him a invitation.

We invited our to both the RD and the wedding he and his wife came to both but unfortunately had to leave the wedding early because of a dying parish member

i invited our rabbi, who we are just using for the day, since it would be rude since hte ceremony is at reception hall. I can't say 'ok, thanks, now leave' He's not going to stay though.

No I am not. There is a slight chance that my mothers uncle who is a retired preist might do the ceremony but I doubt it b/c he doesnt like to travel and he lives in FL. Then he would be invited of course.

Invited and respectfully declined due to 'parish obligations' after the ceremony. Inviting him to the RD too. He's a cool priest so I hope he can at least make that!

Re: Inviting a priest to the reception

We don't even know our officiants (priest and rabbi) so we're not inviting them to the reception. We're paying $750 for a half hour of their service, I think that's plenty.
